The project provides public spaces for the local neighbourhood of Santa Terresa. The building hosts a Capoeria school and tourist centre, encouraging visitors of the building to become parts of the Capoeira game. The project believes that the martial arts offer important values to young people: discipline, respect, self-control, identity, and a feeling of belonging and pride. Introducing a Capoeira school / community centre to Santa Terresa, one of Rio’s most densely-populated residential areas could contribute to tackling the recent issues Brazil has with the young generation.
